Aerial ViewThe line indicates our property boundary. The historic village of Zoar is directly to the right, with the distinctive star shaped garden clearly visible. The Tuscarawas River flows from NW to SE along the left side of the wetland. What appears to be a lake is really a 30 acre deep water marsh that typically evaporates to mud flats in dry summers. The mud flats attract multitudes of shore and wading birds in late summer. The remaining 52 acres is bottom land hardwood forest that is periodically flooded during times of heavy rain. The backward-S curved structure between our property and Zoar is the flood control levee that protects the village. We are on the "wet side" of the levee and subject to frequent floods.
